Finding a top-class right winger is now the priority for Newcastle United in the transfer market but after that there has to be attention paid to finding a new striker.
Even if it wasn't practically nailed-on that Callum Wilson won't be at the club next season, he's shown again this season that he cannot be relied upon.
While we signed Will Osula in the summer, the 21-year-old was brought in as a 'project' player as has been evidenced by his very few minutes on the pitch.
Wilson is due back from injury soon, but we've heard that before, and now that there are reportedly four Premier League clubs willing to take a punt on him in January, we may lose the former England man before his contract expires in the summer.
Newcastle have just about managed without having Callum Wilson in the squad so far this season so losing him in January without replacing him isn't the end of the world, but we'd hate to think we went into another new season without another top striker contending with Alexander Isak.
The Magpies have their eye on one top striker who will be available for free in the summer. Canadian striker Jonathan David is set to leave Lille at the end of the season after being linked to Newcastle, amongst many other clubs in the summer.
There have been rumours that Newcastle are one of several clubs in talks with David's people over a pre-contract agreement.
Now TuttoJuve have reported that David will demand a salary of around £100,000-a-week when he does move in the summer, which, while high, is not so high that it would rule Newcastle out.
We've made our feelings on Jonathan David pretty clear, so for us, we say just give the man what he wants. It's going to be hard enough to land such an in-demand player as it is without haggling over wages.
With 12 goals in 17 games already this season, if he continues this form he's going to be able to pretty much pick any club to walk into so we need to make him know we're serious.
