If you're looking for some positive news on Newcastle United today, I'm afraid you're not going to find it in this piece.

As speculation grows around the future of Alexander Isak following his exclusion from Newcastle's Asian tour squad, there's still the matter of finding a second striker to work alongside Isak should he stay, or one to replace him should he leave.

On either front, things aren't progressing as well as we'd have hoped, having already lost out on several high-profile targets. Newcastle are still pushing to get a deal for Yoane Wissa done.

However, he's not the only striker on Newcastle's wishlist, with Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani in the frame too.

Newcastle have a reported interest in France international Randal Kolo Muani

Randal Kolo Muani has told his people where he'd like to play next season

Yesterday, it was revealed that it may only take £40 million to get a deal done for the France striker, which is a similar fee to what we are prepared to pay for Yoane Wissa.

Unfortunately, TuttoSport in Italy are claiming that the player has made it clear to his representatives that he wants a move back to Juventus, where he spent the second half of last season on loan.

The report says that Kolo Muani told his people 'a few days ago' that he favours a return to Turin over a move to Tyneside. Also ruling out any move to Saudi Arabia or Turkey, where Jose Mourinho has his eyes on him.

Newcastle may need to sign another striker as well as Yoane Wissa

It's worth noting that this report came from Italy, so they could just be spinning things to give Juventus fans hope; however, having spent a good chunk of time there last season, we can see how this could be true.

Newcastle are still in talks over Yoane Wissa, so Randal Kolo Muani may not even be on their radar right now, but if it comes to pass that the Magpies have to sell Alexander Isak this summer, he could become a target again if he's still available.

Although, as we've already said, we'd prefer Benjamin Sesko as he looks like he'd fit our style of play much better, but he will come with a hefty fee for sure.
