Stan Collymore gets it so wrong once again - Former Liverpool striker's opinion on Alexander Isak and Darwin Nunez is baffling

Stan Collymore has been displaying his lack of understanding about Newcastle United yet again as he's given his two pence worth over a potential swap deal for Alexander Isak and Darwin Nunez.

The former Liverpool striker who broke Kevin Keegan's spirit in the 90s is a, shall we say, polarising figure. His takes around Newcastle are often wide of the mark and if could compare his latest take to the shot Diogo Jota had at the end of the first half at Wembley, we're talking that far wide of the mark here.

Writing for Caught Offside, Collymore started well with his opening line being "I think the Alexander Isak to Liverpool rumours are not going to go away anytime soon" before going on to describe how poor Darwin Nunez has been at Liverpool.

But then it's all downhill from there.

Stan Collymore thinking about what absolute garbage he can write next

Behold: Nonsense in its purest form

Collymore believes Newcastle fans will love Darwin Nunez and he'll love playing here because there'll be less pressure on him.

"Nunez has definitely been affected by his Liverpool experience, and I think that he should leave – simply put, he is not up to the standards needed at Liverpool, which can be very unforgiving. My record at Liverpool is often looked down upon, and I had 50 goal contributions in 89 appearances! And the problem for Nunez is that he is being compared against the great Liverpool strikers, such as Ian Rush, Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez, Michael Owen… and of course, he is a massive disappointment when lined up against them.

"Isak would be a massive upgrade on Nunez. His all-round play is what Liverpool need in a striker, and in my opinion, I think it could benefit Newcastle to take Nunez. There is certainly a player in there, but he is not someone that can handle player for a club like Liverpool that brings so much scrutiny and pressure. He would be a really good fit at Newcastle, and their supporters would love him.

"Newcastle are a really big club, so it would not feel like a massive step down for Nunez, but the important thing is that the pressure would not be as telling. And I think Eddie Howe, who I think will become England manager in the future, can make Nunez into the player that many thought he would become at Liverpool."

Stan Collymore - You'd think he'd have heard of Alan Shearer by now

Has Collymore never heard of Andy Cole, Les Ferdinand or Alan Shearer? Or indeed the myriad of strikers who followed who couldn't live up to the pressure of being Newcastle's centre forward? I mean, he mentioned two of them himself.

Saying that Isak would be a massive upgrade on Nunez but then trying to make it sound like Newcastle would be getting a good deal? Howay, man, give your head a wobble.

We agree that Eddie Howe could probably get something out of Darwin Nunez, but there's no way in Hell Newcastle would let Isak leave to be replaced with that clown, and the fans would riot if they even tried.

Thankfully, Newcastle have strict orders from the top to resist all offers for Isak, so we can just sit back and laugh at all these desperate attempts to shift our prize asset to one of the Cartel Six.

I'm always wary when it comes to writing about the crackpot theories of Collymore, as he once got a mate of mine fired for daring to question him. #IStandWithCrippy
