Newcastle United's inconsistency this season has been reflected in pretty much every player who has taken to the pitch in the famous shirt this season.

One man who has perhaps personified the rollercoaster nature of the season the most is Bruno Guimaraes.

The captain has either been excellent or anonymous this season, with very little in between.

When Bruno is in form, though, he is absolutely one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, which is why it wasn't that much of a shock to see him nab a place in Joe Cole's Team of the Season So Far on TNT Sports.

However, live on TNT Sports on Saturday afternoon, as the graphics were put up on screen, Joe Cole made a change to his team, pulling Bruno Guimaraes out of his eleven.

“The only disclaimer I want to put in is that Guimaraes would come out for Morgan Rogers now,

“Listen, yeah, I’m happy with it, a good balance but look at what Rogers has done to the Premier League, he’s been sensational, he’s been the form player, I don’t know what I was thinking,

“Sorry for Bruno, but I would now change and put Morgan in.”

Have we got any players worthy of a spot in a Team of the Season selection at this point?

As much as that stings, it may be the right call purely because of the lack of consistency from Bruno this season.

Given Newcastle's current league position and our inability to win away from home, it seemed a bit far-fetched to have any of our players in a Team of the Season at this point.

That could just be the bitterness leftover from last night talking, but honestly, have any of our players earned a spot in such a team selection? Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall have been our most consistent performers, but injuries have kept them out of too many matches to really put them in contention.
