Something isn't right with the sudden departure of Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi - Craig Hope

Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi recently left their positions at Newcastle United after selling their shares to the remaining stakeholders.

It has since been well established that this was always part of the plan, however, there's no denying that to many of us, this seemed to come out of the blue and a lot sooner than we'd ever expected.

The reasons behind it could be many. We know that Staveley has been embroiled in court cases which could have resulted in bankruptcy so there's a good chance they just needed the money to deal with that.

They could simply feel that the club is in the right place for them to step aside now that they have built up the boardroom.

Craig Hope has hinted that there was something driving the pair's departure

However, in a recent YouTube video, journalist Craig Hope let it slip that something else could have gone on behind the scenes before stopping himself.

"My information is, in an ideal world, for Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi they probably would still be at the club. Now what's gone on there behind the scenes, we've heard whispers. It would take some more research to get things stood up before we commit it to the public domain."

Again, this could mean absolutely anything from a fallout behind the scenes to simply, again, the husband and wife duo simply running out of money.

We'll probably never get the answers

A lot has changed at the club since Amanda brokered the deal to get the PIF through the door with many appointments and a full restructuring of the internal workings of the club.

We had all just hoped that the pair would stay on as the face of the club for a few more years at least. There was a big feeling that Amanda really pushed to get the women's team to where it is now and her absence will likely be felt most by Becky Langley and co.

Hopefully, one day, we'll get some clarity on the full situation, but we won't hold our breath.
