Martin Dubravka has brought the curtain down on his seven and a half year stay at Newcastle United as he finally secures his move away from the club.

The proud wearer of the No. 1 shirt for the past several years, Martin Dubravka lost his spot as first-choice goalkeeper following the arrival of Nick Pope from Burnley in 2022.

Upset at losing his spot and not happy with being second-choice, Dubravka moved to Manchester United on loan, where he'd be their third-choice ... wait, that can't be right, can it?

M-Dubz cut that loan move short after struggling to get minutes at Old Trafford, but unfortunately for him, one of the appearances he did make was in the Carabao Cup, which cup-tied him for Newcastle, and when Pope got suspended for the cup final that year, ironically, against Man United, Dubravka wasn't able to step in.

Of course Burnley nailed the announcement video

Last season, Dubravka deputised for Nick Pope, who missed a lot of football through injury. He played so well that fans called for him to be reinstated as number one when Pope returned to fitness. This even looked likely when a January move to Saudi Arabia was blocked and Dubz was handed a new contract. However, when Pope returned to full fitness, Dubravka was dropped to second choice again.

Understandably unhappy with his treatment, a move seemed inevitable this summer, and now it has become a reality as the club announced today that Dubravka has signed for Burnley on a permanent deal.

It's quite ironic that Dubravka has gone to Burnley, the very club that sold us the player that sealed his fate. The Clarets announced on social media that Dubravka has signed a one-year contract at the club.

In true Burnley fashion, their announcement video was brilliant, placing Dubravka in the shoes of Patrick Swayze's character Bhodi from Point Break.

Newcastle brought in Aaron Ramsdale on loan this summer signalling the end for Martin Dubravka

Newcastle missed out on James Trafford (also from Burnley) this summer but quickly moved to bring in Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton on loan, which clearly spelt the end for the 36-year-old Slovakian.

We're sure Dubravka will be a good signing for Burnley. He was still quality for us last season and definitely has what it takes to play in the Premier League.

Best of luck, Dubravka, thanks for almost eight years of memories.
