'So much love': Will Osula thanks Newcastle United fans after scoring first Premier League goal on Saturday

It has been a long time coming for Newcastle United forward Will Osula, but the 21-year-old finally bagged his first Premier League goal on Saturday.

Will Osula has been very sparingly used by Eddie Howe since his £15 million move from Sheffield United in the summer.

Indeed, Saturday's cameo was his 12th appearance in the Premier League this season, and he only just passed the 90-minute mark of game time in all of those appearances.

That technically works out to a goal a game, if you think about it. Will Osula is a machine. But in all seriousness, the Danish U21 international has had to be very patient this season.

Will Osula's crazy personality has endeared him to the Toon Army

Will Osula rose like a salmon in the 80th minute to meet a Kieran Trippier cross with his head, guiding the ball into the top corner.

It was Osula's second goal of the season, with his first coming in the FA Cup game against Bromley. His brief cameos have given us glimpses of what a player Osula can be, strong, quick and powerful, but he's still too raw for Eddie Howe.

However, the Toon Army have certainly taken to him thanks to his off-field antics, which make him look like a nightmare to be around if you're an introvert, but we bet he's a mad laugh around the training ground.

Will Osula thanked the Newcastle fans for their support

Speaking after the game to NUFC TV, Osula made sure to mention the fans in this thank yous after thanking God and the Newcastle United staff, but giving the fans a special thank you.

“Such a big moment, I’ve had to stay patient for a very long time. I want to thank my teammates for keep pushing me and every day motivating me to keep working harder and keeping me on the right track regardless of the circumstances.

“Also the staff work with me every day and I appreciate the fans, they show me so much love. Thank you to all the fans who are supporting me constantly and I hope to repay them back with more.”

Let's hope that with a good pre-season behind him, he can kick on next season and get more minutes under his belt.
