Newcastle United's Player of the Year Anthony Gordon put the disappointment of today's performance behind him to relay just how much he's loving life on Tyneside.

Anthony Gordon saw a late goal chalked off and a penalty appeal waved away in today's 1-1 draw with Brighton which was also Newcastle's final home game of the season.

It wasn't the way we wanted to sign off a decent home campaign which saw the Magpies score in every Premier League game at St James' Park for the first time in the Premier League era, but it is what it is and it has only dented our European hopes, not ended them. We go on.

Anthony Gordon spoke to NUFC TV after the game where he was asked what it's been like playing at St James' Park this season given his own personal excellent record at home.

Gordon absolutely loves St James' Park

Gordon has picked up nine of his 10 goals and seven of his 10 assists at home this year and has loved playing at St James' Park.

"I absolutely love it here. I've said that plenty of times. I've never come to a stadium or come to a place so much where I get the feeling of just pure joy.

"Every time I pull up to the stadium or even if it's not game day and I'm just driving past here it brings me joy, I absolutely love this place. I've been in good form here but it's because I'm happy here."

Gordon dreamt of picking up Player of the Year at the start of the season

Gordon was then asked about picking up his Player of the Year award when he admitted that it was a personal goal of his this season.

"Yeah, delighted. Like I said in an interview recently it was a goal of mine before the season started. I had that written down amongst some others. So to achieve a goal that I had coming into the season is massive."

It was a shame that Gordon didn't manage to add to his goals tally today thanks to the offside flag, but we are delighted for him this season and we can't wait to see if he can improve again next year.
