Sky Sports make decision on which games will be shown live on Sunday as curtain comes down on 2024/25 season

It's the saddest day of the year on Sunday as the Premier League ends for another season with Newcastle United signing off with a home game against Everton.

At the end of the season, Sky Sports will usually pick a couple of games with high stakes to broadcast live while keeping an eye on the other games and the movements in the standings.

This season, the title race and relegation places have all been wrapped up for weeks, leaving the battle for the remaining Champions League places as the key battle to keep an eye on.

Chelsea and Nottingham Forest play each other, both are battling for one of the remaining spots, and that game will be huge on Sunday.

What are Sky Sports thinking? Seriously!

Newcastle take on Everton at home while Aston Villa take on Manchester United. Arsenal and Manchester City have done enough to bag Champions League, so Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are fighting for their place.

It makes sense then that Sky Sports have chosen Newcastle versus Everton and Man United versus Aston Villa to show live on Sunday ... oh wait, no, they're showing Liverpool v Crystal Palace instead, the dampest of damp squibs.

Sky Sports' justification for showing the Liverpool game is that it will be 'a party atmosphere' at Anfield for the trophy presentation, signing off their title-winning season. Will it? I mean, they won it weeks ago, and have played at home since then did so.

Sky Sports love themselves some Liverpool don't they?

Even if it is a party atmosphere, the actual on-field antics bear no real relevance to anything other than if Palace win, they could jump into the top half of the table. WOW! Spectacular!

Sky could easily show all the pre-match and post-match celebrations at Anfield, including the trophy presentation, if that's what they're interested in, but show another game that actually matters, be that Newcastle v Everton or Man United v Aston Villa.

The bias towards Liverpool is actually astonishing here. I'm so glad I don't pay for Sky Sports anymore, or I'd be feeling superbly ripped off right now.
