Newcastle United are expecting a move by Liverpool for their star striker, Alexander Isak, after weeks of making moves to unsettle the player.

Liverpool and the cartel-biased media have gone out of their way to keep Alexander Isak's name in the spotlight all summer in a bid to soften up Newcastle United ahead of a huge bid.

While it would be a bit disingenuous to sit here and say that Isak's head has been turned purely because of the relentless media campaign, there's no doubt that it has played a part.

Isak was already contemplating his future by the sounds of things after Craig Hope revealed things have not been right behind the scenes for a year now, but making Isak aware that there's an option on the table every five minutes certainly won't have helped.

£100 million? Jog on!

Liverpool preparing £100m bid for Isak? Where's the rest of it, lads?

Liverpool reportedly approached Newcastle and said they'd be willing to offer £120 million to get a deal done for the forward this summer.

Now, though, Sky Sports Switzerland's Sacha Tavolieri has claimed that the Reds are readying a £100 million bid to test Newcastle's resolve.

The report makes it sound as though it's £100 million with add-ons that could take it to £120 million, while also stating Newcastle want £150 million.

We're not buying it ... yet

Tavolieri goes on to claim that talks are expected to take place between the two clubs within the next 48 hours.

Honesty, we're taking this with a pinch of salt. While it's a very believable story, the fact that it's coming out of Sky in Switzerland and not England makes it much less convincing.

We'd not be surprised to see a bid come in this week, but there are still a few steps that need to be taken before we imagine Newcastle would be ready to speak to Liverpool about Isak. They need to make sure the Luis Diaz sale goes through first, and from our side, Yasir Al-Rumayyan is hoping to hold talks with Isak to address his concerns.
