Newcastle United reportedly pulled out of a deal that would have seen Will Osula move to Eintracht Frankfurt on transfer deadline day in September.

The story goes that Eintract Frankfurt changed the structure of the deal, and Newcastle weren't happy with the new terms and pulled the plug.

It ended up being a fortuitous move in the end for Newcastle as Yoane Wissa picked up a bad knee injury days later, and Will Osula ended up being called upon to lead the line for Newcastle in a few games, even scoring three goals in the process.

However, with Yoane Wissa close to a return from his injury and Nick Woltemade doing the business, the idea of letting the Danish Under-21 international leave is being revisited.

Eintract Frankfurt are looking to recreate the move that brought Hugo Ekitike to the Bundesliga with Will Osula

Indeed, Sky Sports Germany (via Get Football News Germany) has reported that a deal has actually been agreed already ahead of the January transfer window.

The claim is that Eintracht Frankfurt have structured a deal similar to the one which saw Hugo Ekitike head there from PSG.

An initial loan fee of £2.6 million will see Osula join Frankfurt in January, and at the end of the season, they will have an option to buy for £17.5 million. There's also thought to be a sell-on clause involved, as there was with Ekitike, which saw PSG net £13 million when he was sold to Liverpool.

We have a feeling that there may well be a big chunk of truth in this story

There have been a few stories of late linking Newcastle with an interest in another centre-forward in January, which would certainly need to be the case if we are to let Will Osula leave.

We're always sceptical about stories originating from abroad, but this one has a lot of things going for it in terms of being true. The pre-existing interest from Frankfurt and the confirmed stories about that potential summer move are huge indicators that there could be something to this.

Will Osula has looked good this season when he's been called on, but a recent injury has put him out of contention. He still hasn't kicked on as much as we think Eddie Howe would have liked, and with that in mind, we can actually see an exit for the striker this winter.
