Sheffield United are eyeing a move for former Newcastle United duo Paul Dummett and Matt Ritchie following their release from the club last month, according to reports.

The pair were let go by the Magpies after both players had extended stays at the club but still haven't sorted out their futures ahead of the new season.

There were reports earlier in the transfer window that Portsmouth were eager to move in for Ritchie, with the player also open to the move.

But as it stands nothing has materialised with both players assessing their options.

Dummett and Ritchie to reunite?

According to The Sheffield Star, the Blades have held talks with the representatives of both players over a move earlier this month.

However, both deals have stalled as the players look to assess their options following interest from several Championship clubs.

The pair would surely love to reunite after spending many years playing together with the Magpies, a move would surely be much to the delight of Sheffield United fans.
