'Sell him': Simon Jordan doesn't mince his words when discussing Newcastle United's next steps with Alexander Isak
Love him or hate him, Simon Jordan always has something to say on pretty much any given football situation as part of his duties on TalkSPORT.
A divisive character at the best of times, we've found ourselves agreeing with him on some things and massively disagreeing with him on others.
In the wake of all the drama surrounding Newcastle and the Alexander Isak to Liverpool saga, we find ourselves agreeing with the former Crystal Palace owner once again.
We knew he'd have something to say on the matter, and if we're being honest, we were bracing ourselves for a poor take, but the man has got it spot on.
Simon Jordan is of the mindset that no one player is bigger than the football club
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Simon Jordan mentioned what Alan Shearer had already said about the saga, in that nobody is bigger than the club, while saying that Eddie Howe won't want a player who isn't 100% committed.
“I’m with Shearer on the Isak argument.
“If people want to buy him, first of all, Newcastle name the price and the terms, conditions and financing around the deal. No one’s bigger than one football club. Eddie Howe won’t want somebody in the dressing room who’s not 100% committed. With Shearer’s analysis of if they get £150m, sell him – I don’t disagree with that.
“Newcastle’s a bigger football club than Isak and they will have an opportunity to redeploy that money and it may well be that it builds a better squad than just one individual.”
Newcastle could reinvest the money they get from Isak in a few top players
Simon Jordan even tries to argue that Newcastle are an elite football club, which we never thought we'd hear from him.
As Jordan says, selling Isak could fund moves for several top players. Yes, we're not likely to find a direct replacement for Isak, but if we do land Benjamin Sesko, he feels like he has all the potential in the world to hit those heights. It won't be straight away by any means, but a year or two down the line, he could be huge.
Meanwhile, there are other positions that could be strengthened with top players when we don't have to worry so much about money.
