Sean Longstaff names the Newcastle player alongside Alexander Isak he believes to be 'world class'

Newcastle United are blessed to have some top stars amongst their ranks these days with the likes of Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes often touted as 'world class' players.

Indeed, Anthony Gordon is making his way onto that list too and if you ask Newcastle fans they're likely to throw in the names of Joelinton and Sandro Tonali as well.

Sean Longstaff was on the latest edition of The Rest Is Football podcast and he offered up another name of a player at Newcastle who belongs in that 'world class' category.

Longy had been talking about the strength Newcastle have in the midfield which we agree is one area that Newcastle have an embarrassment of riches, but then Gary Lineker turned attention to the forwards mentioning Alexander Isak.

Sean Longstaff names several Newcastle players who are top class

Lineker spoke of how he and Alan Shearer both admire Isak as former centre forwards and Longstaff agreed that Isak is a top player but then immediately threw another name in the mix as 'world class'.

"He's top. For me him and Sven Botman are world class, I think obviously Bruno and Joelinton are as well and Sandro (Tonali), but I think Alex and Sven are the two that I think, when I look at them, i think they could go and play for the top teams in the world tomorrow. Not that the others couldn't, but I just think there's something about them two that are special.

"Alex is unbelievable. I think you always judge players when they first come in and I remember watching Alex doing a shooting session and it was left foot, right foot and he was just belting it in the goal and I thought 'ooh, we've signed a top, top player here'. he's actually a really funny guy, he probably speaks the most Geordie out of everyone.

"I think with Sven, he's lightning quick, he's strong, he's unbelievable on the ball as well. He's the modern centre back, he can do everything."

Sean Longstaff might have a bit of a man crush

Longy went on to praise Botman for how he handled Erling Haaland before starting to gush about him being a handsome man. Do we think Longy has a bit of a crush on Sven?

"There's even times when he's one-v-one with Haaland and we go away to Man City and it's him and Haaland on the halfway line against each other and he's having a really good battle with him.

"I always laugh that he's unbelievable at football and he's a handsome bugger as well, he's got everything. I love Sven, he's top."
