Last season Newcastle United returned to Champions League action for the first time in 20 years and while their time in the competition was cut short by a shocking penalty decision, the fans made some very special memories.

This season it will be Aston Villa fans hoping to make some memories of their own, but as the club has announced their ticket prices for the Champions League games, those dreams for a lot of supporters will have turned to dust.

Football is a money game more than it is a sporting one these days, I think everybody understands that as much as they hate it.

It's never more apparent than when you listen to Darren Eales and Peter Silverstone talking about Newcastle United throwing around businessy buzzwords that make my teeth itch. It's vile but at the end of the day, the more money a club makes, the more competitive they can be.

Aston Villa have angered fans of all clubs with their insane ticket prices for CL games

However, when the club's revenue is generated by ripping off the fans, that's when we can't ignore it as much.

Aston Villa have practically doubled their ticket prices for the Champions League and it's so bad that even fans of other clubs, such as us, are feeling bad for their fans.

The Newcastle United Supporters Trust have posted on X calling out Villa for taking their fans for a ride.

Fans need to call this kind of behaviour out even if it's not your club doing it

It's imperative that fans of other clubs call out this disgusting behaviour because if they don't, and Villa go through with this price hike unchecked, then it could be your club next.

The fans are already being priced out of the game with ticket prices increasing, and the cost of travel, food and drinks all on the rise. What was once a family day out is becoming almost impossible to justify.

Football has always been classed as the working man's game, but it's only the middle and upper classes who can afford it these days.
