Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has wrung the changes as he sets up his team to take on Tottenham Hotspur. Kick-off is at 1:30 live on Sky Sports.

After making a host of changes to face Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, Eddie Howe has put out a more familiar side to take on Spurs.

Sandro Tonali begins the game on the bench after starting against Forest and looking strong. We expected he would start ahead of Sean Longstaff today but Howe has had other ideas.

Praise has to go to Howe for finally starting his best three attackers up front with Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes flanking Alexander Isak.

We were close

Tottenham are missing a couple of big players

It remains to be seen which flank they start on and whether that remains the same throughout the game as Howe has been known to switch them over if needed.

As we suspected Lloyd Kelly gets the nod over Lewis Hall. We expected that Howe would go with Kelly's more defensive style of play over Hall's attacking style to try and snuff out the Spurs attack.

Their attack is not as potent as it could have been however with Dominic Solanke and Richarlison both missing.

Newcastle will look to build on their good home record v Spurs

Wor Flags have something big planned today so hopefully that will help bring the atmosphere back up to 11 even a relatively quiet showing on the opening game of the season.

Today's game is huge for the Magpies. It's the first real big test of the season and so far things haven't gone to plan against the so-called smaller sides, so they will have to be on their game today.

Thankfully, we have a good record against Spurs at home, so hopefully we can build on that. HOWAY THE LADS!
