Sandro Tonali drops huge hint on his Newcastle United future amid 'unsettled' speculation

If the persistent rumours from the continent are to be believed, Newcastle United should be bracing themselves for Sandro Tonali to hop on a plane and return home to Italy and re-sign for AC Milan.

The Italian midfielder has been linked with a return back to the Serie A giants since, well, since before the wheels of the plane on his flight to Newcastle touched the tarmac.

At the time of his £55 million move, AC Milan's fans were struggling to come to terms with losing one of their most beloved players and would pounce on anything they could to suggest that he didn't want the move.

It was easy for them given Tonali's general demeanour is straight-faced and cool, showing very little emotion. Every photo of him in Newcastle not smiling would be seen as a way to suggest he was unhappy.

Then just a couple of months into his Newcastle career he was slapped with a 10-month ban and the speculation died down as he faded into the background, but since his return, the Italians have been at it again, relentlessly.

Despite the fact that Tonali can now speak fluent English, has released statements via his agents, and personally denying any rumours that he is 'unsettled', the Italian media still live in hope.

If the Italians are any good at reading subtext, then they should take one look at Tonali's Instagram and move on to other things.

Tonali dropped a massive hint over his Newcastle United future

Heading into the New Year, Tonali posted images from Monday night's demolition of Manchester United accompanied by a message that drops a huge hint on his future at Newcastle.

"Stronger, faster, hungrier. We keep pushing 🖤🤍

"Magpies enjoy the end of the year, can’t wait to see you in 2025 for more of these incredible nights."

There you have it, he's going nowhere. Not that we ever thought he was.
