Newcastle United take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight, live on TNT Sports. Kick-off is at 7:30pm.

There was little chance that we were going to agree with whatever team Eddie Howe picked tonight, given that there are only two players who fully deserve their place in the team of late, in Bruno Guimaraes and Lewis Hall.

However, we weren't expecting HOwe to drop one of those. Lewis Hall sits on the bench as he is given a well-deserved rest, but we feel we are really going to miss him tonight.

Sandro Tonali, amid his poor form and transfer speculation, finds himself on the bench alongside Hall while Lewis Miley misses out altogether after failing to recover from his dead leg in time.

Who needs goals anyway?

Eddie Howe has obviously decided that goals aren't important tonight as he's gone with none of his three available strikers in the starting lineup instead opting to play Anthony Gordon up top after his miraculous recovery from that devastating hamstring injury he picked up against Manchester City.

Anthony Elanga gets the nod on the right tonight after being overlooked at the weekend, despite a decent goal-scoring cameo in the game against City.

Bruno Guimaraes is joined in midfield by Jacob Ramsey and Joe Willock. Hooray?

Any enthusiasm I could muster for tonight's game is gone

Kieran Trippier has to go again in the absence of Lewis Miley, and with Dan Burn on the opposite side of the defence, we can't wait to watch the two ageing defenders getting left in the dust by Tottenham's wingers.

I wasn't looking forward to tonight in the first place, but this team selection has removed any shred of interest I had in this game.

There's always a chance we will be pleasantly surprised. Anthony Gordon did score the last time he played as a striker so there's that, but I am already preparing myself for some angry typing later tonight.

HOWAY EDDIE HOWE'S LOST THE ACTUAL PLOT MAGS!
