Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali has just a few hours remaining of his 10-month ban at the time of writing.
With Newcastle's Carabao Cup fixture against Nottingham Forest being scheduled for Wednesday 28th August, the Italian midfielder will be eligible to play after his ban is completed at midnight on 27th.
We expect Eddie Howe will waste no time in welcoming back the 24-year-old and will likely throw him into the starting lineup to face Forest.
Originally it looked like Tonali's return would be Sunday's game against Tottenham Hotspur before it was revealed that his ban ended today.
A return to the Newcastle United starting lineup may not be the only bit of good news the Italian receives this week either.
Calciomercato in Italy reports that all being well, Tonali will be selected for Italy's next squad too.
The squad is set to be announced on Friday and as long as he's fit, Tonali is expected to be included.
Tonali's ban prohibited him from taking part in any games at club and international level. He was even excluded from friendlies where a crowd or TV cameras were in attendance.
It has been a long 10 months, but Eddie Howe has repeatedly said he's delighted with how Tonali has handled himself and how hard he has worked.
He may lack match sharpness, but there are seemingly no fears about Tonali's fitness or readiness to get back involved.
