Richard Keys now says Liverpool are 'certs' to sign £120m Alexander Isak - No, seriously, he did

Richard Keys has been presenting football shows for almost as long as I can remember, so how is it that he's still so clueless? Or does he just take great pleasure in winding up Newcastle United fans?

I suppose the fact that he's been cast out to Qatari TV and writes on a personal blog rather than for any respected outlets shows just how valued his opinion is these days, but we have to give it to him, he knows how to stay relevant.

Here we are talking about him, giving him exactly what he wants, so who's the fool here?

Well, both of us really, especially if Keys actually believes what he's just written about Alexander Isak and Liverpool.

Alexander Isak to Liverpool is a 'cert'

Writing about Arne Slot's mission to make Liverpool competitive again next season, Richard Keys says in his blog that he will need to sign some top players this summer.

"And I’d say this to Slot - re-signing [Virgil] van Dijk and [Mo] Salah is NOT like signing two new players. It’s the right thing to do, but if Liverpool are going to be competitive next season they’ll need proper new signings. Two certs are [Alexander] Isak and [Milos] Kerkez, but that won’t be enough either."

We can't speak for Milos Kerkez and Bournemouth, but we've seen enough from Alexander Isak and Newcastle United to know that he's going nowhere.

Give Me Sport covered this story, adding that it would cost Liverpool £160 million to sign both players, with Isak being £120 million of that. We don't see that being enough to shift the needle for Newcastle.

Honestly, this wouldn't have riled us up at all if Keys hadn't claimed that Isak to Liverpool would be a certainty.

Of course, it's not impossible despite everything that has been said, but it absolutely is far from being a certainty.

It's also a bizarre claim to suggest that Kerkez and Isak wouldn't add enough to make Liverpool competitive again. Although they do need to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold too, but still, they're not at the top of the league by sheer luck.
