Reports are coming in over who Newcastle could take from Nottingham Forest as part of Anderson quasi-swap deal

Elliot Anderson looks to be on his way to Nottingham Forest in a £35million move which could potentially see a Nottingham Forest player going the other way as part of a quasi-swap deal which have become popular as clubs bid to fight off potential points deductions.

Newcastle United have shown interest in a few Nottingham Forest players over recent months with Morgan Gibbs-White a particular standout given his pre-existing relationship with Anthony Gordon after the two led England U21s to the European Championships last summer.

Anthony Elanga was also mooted when the Elliot Anderson story first broke, and given Newcastle's need for a right winger, that made sense.

Finally, there's Brazilian defender Murillo who would be our pick as the club needs a new centre-back and Murillo was outstanding for Forest last season and he looks like a natural replacement for Fabian Schar.

Newcastle seem to have found one of their goalkeepers

Unfortunately, if Sami Mokbel of The Daily Mail is to be believed it won't be any of the above.

Mokbel claims that Newcastle are working on a deal to sign goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos. The 30-year-old Greek 'keeper made five appearances for Forest in the Premier League last season and let in 12 goals, keeping one clean sheet.

So if we're looking for a replacement for Martin Dubravka he seems perfect. Completely like-for-like.

Newcastle have booked a medical for Vlachodimos

Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed the story saying that Newcastle have booked a medical.

The fact that Vlachodimos only signed for Forest from Benfica last year and they're already moving him on after just five appearances speaks volumes (yes we're selling Minteh after zero appearances but that's different in every way).

This had better be the Loris Karius replacement as this one make zero sense at all and just reeks of desperation.
