Get your own ideas, Tottenham, honestly, it's just getting embarrassing now.

Spurs recently signed Radu Dragusin who had long been linked to Newcastle United and now it seems that Ange Postecoglu isn't done copying off the Magpies yet if The Northern Echo are to be believed.

The one player whose name is linked more to Newcastle now than the club who actually employs him is Kalvin Phillips.

Newcastle look increasingly unlikely to sign Phillips

Newcastle and Phillips have been dancing around each other for months now and the narrative seemingly switches hourly between "done deal" and "not happening".

Phillips is now wanted by Tottenham

The prohibitive FFP rules are stifling Newcastle in pursuit of the deal with Manchester City wanting a fee of around £7million as well as an obligation to buy if a deal is to be done.

As if that wasn't already challenging enough, The Northern Echo now claims that Tottenham are keen on the England midfielder.

Tottenham are considering a move for Phillips

"Phillips is one of a number of options being considered by the hierarchy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with some senior figures understood to be championing his cause."

Spurs won't have the problem of FFP having sold Harry Kane to Bayern Munich for almost £100million which suggests that if they're serious about an offer there's not much stopping them.

Newcastle's cautious approach in the transfer market, while probably the right one in the long term, is getting really frustrating now as we will continue to miss out on players and right now with all of the injuries we have, it doesn't feel like the right game to be playing.
