Thomas Tuchel is trying to reconstruct Tottenham Hotspur in Germany it seems having signed Harry Kane and Eric Dier and now he wants Kieran Trippier.

The Newcastle United vice-captain has been a massive part of Newcastle's rise but this season has seen the 33-year-old come in for a lot of flak from fans after making several mistakes which have led to costly goals.

TalkSPORT believes that should Bayern Munich come knocking, the Magpies could be tempted to sell thanks to their precarious FFP position and the fact that Trippier has been unable to recapture the magic of last season.

Trippier made himself a legend at Newcastle

Trippier signed form Atletico Madrid in Eddie Howe's first transfer window and in his first season and a half on Tyneside he was absolutely phenomenal, never putting a foot wrong. However, this season he has been a far cry from his best.

Trippier was a bargain when he signed for just £12million

That can be put down to fatigue with the England international being involved in far too many games this season, but with Tino Livramento already looking the part, could Newcastle cash in on Trippier while he's still worth something?

As we keep saying, selling players in January seems like a ridiculous notion right now given how depleted our squad is, but Tripps is a high earner and we could even make a profit on him after picking him up for just £12million.

There are reasons why letting Tripps go makes sense

He's not getting any younger and with that in mind, cashing in on him now would likely be our last opportunity to do so.

This time last year even thinking about letting Trippier go would be inconceivable, but after this season, given his spotty form and the rise of Tino, would it be such a crazy idea?

We're sticking with not selling anyone in January, even if we already have an in-built replacement for Tripps, he brings more to the table than just what he does on the pitch and losing that would be more damaging to the club.
