Newcastle United face a huge task to keep their top stars at the club, especially with the way the Premier League stands.

The longer the team struggles to pick up points and climb the table, the more our top stars will start questioning whether this is the right place for them.

One player who is highly coveted right now is Tino Livramento after a string of immense performance on both sides of the Newcastle defence.

Manchester City are thought to be very keen on signing the former Chelsea full-back, while Newcastle are keen to extend his current terms and keep him at the club.

Tino Livramento has put contract talks on hold

A move in January was already unlikely, but now, given his injury problems, it seems almost inevitable that Livramento will at least see out the season at Newcastle.

Beyond that is anyone's guess; however, with Livramento and his team opting to delay contract talks until nearer the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail, giving hope to Manchester City that he could be considering a move away.

Meanwhile, on the other side of Manchester, United are also eyeing Tino, according to a report from Caught Offside, who claim he is one of two players Ruben Amorim is looking at to replace 'failed signing' Patrick Dorgu.

If Tino Livramento is going to leave Newcastle we don't see him going to Manchester United

We feel that if Tino was to turn his back on the Toon he could go to City, but United is a sideways step at best these days so we don't feel they'd be genuine contenders for his signature.

Just because Tino is waiting to sign his new deal, it doesn't mean he won't do it, either. It just makes sense for him to get this season wrapped up after the performances he's put in. If he can continue his form when he returns from injury he'll have so much leverage to negotiate a better deal, especially if he's selected to go to the World Cup.

His current deal runs until 2028, so there's no panic, it's purely about rewarding him for his efforts at this point.
