Wednesday morning saw reports circulating that Newcastle United had a new player in mind to take over the right-wing responsibility other than Anthony Elanga.

Nottingham Forest's Anthony Elanga still remains high on Newcastle's priority list, but Paul Mitchell will be extremely cautious of putting all of his eggs in one basket again after the summer disaster with Marc Guehi.

It is being reported that Newcastle are joined by several big Premier League clubs in keeping an eye on Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo who has been phenomenal for the Cherries so far this season.

With three goals and an assist in the opening seven games, several clubs are sitting up to take note with Liverpool and Tottenham keeping tabs on the 24-year-old.

Semenyo is attracting a lot of interest right now

Aston Villa are the early favourites to sign Antoine Semenyo

However, Birmingham World are reporting that Aston Villa have been deemed the club most likely to snap up the former Sunderland loanee.

Their report claims that bookies have Villa at a 33.3% chance of acquiring the Ghana international’s services, while the probabilities of Tottenham and Newcastle snapping up the attacker are 16.7% and 7.7% respectively.

There's no mention of Liverpool in there who were deemed by Give Me Sport this morning to also be in the mix, so it's definitely way too early to put much stock in these figures.

Could Eddie Howe exploit his Bournemouth links to get the upper hand?

Eddie Howe's Bournemouth connections could serve to aid Newcastle with this move even though Semenyo joined the club well after Eddie Howe departed.

On the other hand, Semenyo's form this season could just be a purple patch like Miguel Almiron's spell in October 2022 when he was practically unstoppable.

There's still plenty of time between now and January to assess Semenyo's form before deciding on whether or not to join the fight for his signature.
