There are a few players who are in a prime position to be moved on from Newcastle United in the January transfer window for various reasons.

Injury-prone players who are a drain on the wage bill have to be high on that list, although they will obviously be hard to shift.

Players who are getting a bit long in the tooth should also be moved on, as should those who don't play regularly due to having plenty of options in their position.

Martin Dubravka ticks both of those boxes for Newcastle right now as the 35-year-old may hold the title of number two goalkeeper, but with another three players behind him, he won't really be missed if he's moved on.

Saudi Pro League clubs are looking at a move for Martin Dubravka

Martin Dubravka has left Newcastle once already after spitting his dummy out at the arrival of Nick Pope and flouncing off to Manchester United on loan, only to realise it was a silly mistake and cutting that loan short.

Then in the summer it looked like the Slovakia international was heading to Celtic before the Scottish club signed Kasper Schmeichel.

With another transfer window rapidly approaching, Newcastle World are claiming that Dubravka is being looked at by a few Saudi Pro League sides. - Their story credits The Mirror as a source but links back to a story about Miguel Almiron, and there's no sign of the Dubravka piece ... but it does make sense, so we're sticking with it.

Martin Dubravka's contract expires in the summer

Dubravka's contract is up in the summer so Newcastle would be wise to try and cash in on him now rather than lose him for nothing six months later.

He'll likely not fetch much, but any money we do receive is a help with PSR, as is clearing another wage off the bill.

Dubravka has served Newcastle well, but a new goalkeeper is clearly a priority for the club despite having a surplus already, so moving one or two out of the club makes perfect sense.
