Report suggests 28-year-old Newcastle United target has 'made it clear' he wants to leave this summer
Newcastle United remain in the market for a new striker this summer, having lost Callum Wilson and then ultimately missing out on João Pedro and Hugo Ekitike in the market.
Even with Callum Wilson, Newcastle were lacking options up front as the 33-year-old was rarely fit enough to play a meaningful role in the side. Meanwhile, Eddie Howe didn't want to throw new signing Will Osula into the action until he felt he was ready.
With Wilson having now left Newcastle, the Magpies are more desperate than ever for reinforcements for Alexander Isak, and it seems that the club aren't messing about when it comes to the type of player they're after, having already made moves for Joao Pedro and Hugo Ekitike.
While neither of those moves came off for Eddie Howe, the levels that we're looking at certainly shows the ambition of the club.
Yoane Wissa has made his position clear to Brentford
Since missing out on Hugo Ekitike, there have been many reports suggesting Newcastle will turn their attention to Brentford striker Yoane Wissa. While not as exciting as an Ekitike or even a Pedro, his 20 goals in the Premier League last season show that he's no slouch. At 28, he is older than we'd usually be aiming for, but options for strikers are limited.
It has been heavily suggested that Brentford would not be willing to let Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa leave this summer, and with Mbeumo's move to Manchester United gathering pace, it didn't look good for Newcastle in their pursuit of Wissa.
However, The Mirror are now reporting that the Frenchman has made it clear to Brentford that he wants to move on this summer, so the Magpies may still have a chance.
Newcastle hold an interest in RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko
Newcastle won't have it easy, though, as Wissa is also being targeted by Nottingham Forest, and his former gaffer, Thomas Frank, at Tottenham, which many believe puts the London side in the lead for his signature.
There are still other options out there for Eddie How,e with Benjamin Sesko being mentioned a lot.
We really hope there's truth to the Sesko rumour as he has a massively high ceiling and we know that Eddie Howe could get the absolute best out of him. He'll not come cheap, and having posed in RB Leipzig's new kit and posting it to his personal social media, there's a strong suggestion that he stays put this summer. We'll see, though.
