Championship club Sheffield Wednesday have tabled season-long loan offers for both Isaac Hayden and Jeff Hendrick today, according to Joe Crann of The Star.
Hayden was all set to join Luton Town on loan earlier this week before the move collapsed at the medical stage, with the Hatters seemingly prioritising a move for Arsenal's Rob Holding instead.
There hasn't been much interest in Hendrick before this week, though yesterday it emerged that he was under consideration for a temporary deal by Wednesday, Aberdeen, Leeds, and West Brom.
While Crann is keen to stress that neither deal is concluded and discussions are ongoing, he appears confident that the Hillsborough club have tabled formal offers to bring both midfielders to Yorkshire.
Neither offer includes the option to make the deal permanent, however, and neither player's wages will be covered in full by Wednesday.
Indeed, replying to a comment from "BillinghamMag" below his original story on X, Crann seems to think the percentage of wages being covered could be a sticking point for the deal:
The Owls have already made 10 new signings so far this summer as they seek to build on their promotion from League One in 2022/23. They are currently rooted to the bottom of The Championship, however, losing all four of their league games so far this season.
New boss Xisco Munoz (no, not that Xisco) replaced Darren Moore in controversial circumstances back in early July and is seemingly on the hunt for more experience to add to his squad to avoid his side dropping straight back down into the third tier.
Hayden and Hendrick would certainly fit the bill there, though we're not sure how much either has left to offer on the pitch these days.
