Report says Newcastle United have recently been out to watch Brazilian winger on verge of international recognition

Newcastle United are covering all their bases in their search for a Miguel Almiron replacement.

There are clear favourites for the role for the Magpies, but they could prove to be too costly as the club looks to spend wisely in the summer with many positions in need of beefing up.

However, a right-winger is probably top of the priority list and getting the signing right is key, which is why the magpies have many names on their list.

One of these is 23-year-old Brazilian Luis Henrique, who currently plays for Marseille after joining from Botofogo.

Luis Henrique is not to be confused with Luis Henrique, who left Botofogo to join Zenit St Petersburg. Luckily for Botofogo, the two were never on the books at the same time, it seems.

This isn't the first time we've seen Newcastle linked with Luis Henrique, but last time, we could not determine which one the report was talking about.

The Boot Room have now confirmed that it's the Luis Henrique at Marseille that Newcastle have their eye on having sent scouts to watch him recently.

Luis Henrique could be a good secondary option this summer

The fact that Luis Henrique is being eyed for a Brazil call-up given he's in direct competition with Vinicius Jr, Raphinha and Rodrygo should tell us all we need to know.

With nine goals and six assists in 24 outings this season, he's putting up good numbers. Not mindblowing by any means, but strong enough to suggest that a couple of months under Eddie Howe and he could be a good replacement for Miguel Almiron.

If the asking price isn't too great, he could perhaps be brought in as a backup winger behind someone like Bryan Mbeumo. It all comes down to what we've got to play with this summer.
