As we head towards the mid-point in November that can only mean one thing ... The January transfer window is coming and Newcastle United will be open for business both in terms of incomings and outgoings.
A new report from Argentina is suggesting that Newcastle United may finally get to offload Miguel Almiron in January.
Newcastle have been trying to move the Paraguayan on for the past two windows but proposed moves back to the MLS or to Saudi Arabia have fallen short due to the finances involved and now Miggy is essentially being left to rot on the bench on Tyneside.
Jacob Murphy had taken Miggy's first-team place, but now Eddie Howe is alternating between Anthony Gordon, Joelinton and Harvey Barnes down the right leaving Almiron to mop up the dregs of playing time as a late substitute.
Argentinian outlet TyC Sports are reporting that River Plate remain interested in Almiron and could make a January move for the 30-year-old.
Almiron is a big River Plate fan and would likely jump at the chance to join the club after they just qualified for the Club World Cup.
Meanwhile journalist Renzo Pantich told Soy del Millo that River Plate are looking in a 'formal and concrete' manner at Miggy's situation.
“River is probing, in a formal and concrete manner, the contractual conditions of Miguel Almirón. He’s a River fan, he has a tattoo on his back, and he is currently playing very few minutes in the Premier League.
Newcastle could still be asking for around £15 million for Almiron which could be the stumbling block for River Plate.
Maybe if we set up a GoFundMe for River Plate we can get this done?
