For a long time Newcastle United were credited with an interest in Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans.

Even before Youri Tielemans signaled his intention to let his contract expire at Leicester City, Newcastle were linked with making a move for the Belgian international and were widely tipped to be his next destination after leaving Leicester.

For a long while Newcastle fans were completely on board with signing Tielemans. He'd been an outstanding player for Leicester, but as his contract started running down and Leicester started to fade away in the Premier League, his form dropped dramatically and suddenly fans weren't so keen.

Even as a free transfer the Toon Army were no longer sold on the idea and fortunately, Tielemans opted to join Aston Villa in the summer.

Villa boss Unai Emery has so far only started the 26-year-old in cup competitions and choosing to stick with last season's pairing in midfield for the Premier League.

This isn't sitting well with the Belgian who recently said in an interview with DH via The Shields Gazette:

“The situation is not pleasant. I told the manager that I came to Villa to play.
“He understands me, but at the moment, he prefers to play with the two midfielders from last season. He told me that soon, there will be a succession of games and I’ll get more playing time.”

It's now believed that if things don't change for Tielemans he will look to be on the move in January.

I can't see there being much of a queue for him at this point. I'm sure he can still do a job but top clubs chasing European football will probably swerve him again in January, especially if this is his attitude.
