The priority for Newcastle United in January has to be to bring in a new right-winger who is capable of replicating down the right what Anthony Gordon does down the left.

Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy simply aren't good enough for where Newcastle want to be as sad as that is to say.

The Magpies have failed to improve their right wing since the takeover for whatever reason.

In the summer Newcastle spent far too much time chasing a central defender, specifically Marc Guehi and while Eddie Howe has a couple of defenders missing until the turn of the year, surely right-wing was a bigger priority even then.

Bryan Mbuemo is Paul Mitchell's 'dream' signing

Paul Mitchell has his priority target in mind for January

Thankfully, Paul Mitchell has seen the light according to iNews who claim that he has turned the club's attention to finding a winger in January rather than going back in for Marc Guehi.

Indeed, it seems Mitchell has his 'dream' target in mind and it aligns with what many fans have been saying.

While Newcastle tried to land Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest on deadline day in the summer, and Antoine Semenyo has been named as a target, it is now being suggested that top of Mitchell's list is Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo which will likely be music to many fans' ears.

Bryan Mbeumo is a popular choice amongst fans

We've seen a few of our readers say they'd want Bryan Mbeumo at the club and that sentiment is echoed across social media and now it seems that Mitchell has got the message.

The Brentford forward is having a blinder of a season so far with six goals in eight Premier League outings.

A fee of £50 million has been mooted for Mbuemo but it's unlikely that Brentford will let him go without a fight so that fee could rise. There's also likely to be plenty of competition if there's any suggestion that Brentford are willing to sell, so while he's the top target, there's still a long way to go.
