Newcastle United goalkeeper Loris Karius is set for a move away from the club this summer as his contract comes to an end.

The German shot-stopper has been vocal about his displeasure in a lack of game time at the club.

Karius is the third-choice goalkeeper at the Magpies behind Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka but there has been increasing speculation that a new goalkeeping arrival could be imminent with Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe keen on bringing in Valencia keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Karius was also notably absent from Newcastle's squad that travelled down under for the Magpies post-season tour.

Karius looking to sign for a club in Italy

Karius' impact at Newcastle has been rather small. The German made just two appearances in his time at the club. His first in the Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester United in 2023 and second in a 4-1 defeat to Arsenal earlier this season.

As previously mentioned, Karius has been vocal about his intentions to leave this summer. He is looking for a move to Italy to be closer to his family.

His partner, Diletta Leotta described Newcastle as "very inconvenient".

"Loris has people by his side who are working for him. I hope he makes the best choice for his career. I live in Milan and so let's say that close to Milan in terms of comfort would be ideal for us. She said.

Como are interested in bringing in Karius

According to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Karius is "increasingly closer to Como" a side who just won promotion to the Serie A after over two decades out of the Italian top flight.

Como is just an hour away from Milan, making the move a perfect opportunity for him to get some game time and be closer to his family.

The former Liverpool keeper has struggled for consistent first-team football following his disastrous Champions League final appearance in 2017.
