Everyone has a price, so the saying goes and it seems that Newcastle United have theirs for Callum Wilson.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle have slapped a £20million price-tag on 31-year-old striker Callum Wilson amid reports that he could be sold this month.

That's actually pretty clever by the club. With Wilson's injury record and the fact that he's the wrong side of 30, there won't be many clubs who'd be willing to cough up so much money for him, but if there are, Newcastle essentially get their money back on the striker.

Newcastle may have a plan in place if Wilson goes

Not only that, but the £20million coming in would unlock a hefty chunk of spending money for the club. The big issue would be the lack of time remaining in the window to bring in a replacement.

Newcastle have been keeping tabs on several strikers recently with Serhou Guirassy and Benjamin Sesko's names being the most recent ones - albeit the latter being earmarked as a summer swoop.

If we were to sell Wilson in January and bring someone in, it would need to be someone who can hit the ground running, someone with Premier League experience. We can buy the big name striker in the summer, but right now we can't afford to bring in players who need time to adjust.

Selling Wilson in January doesn't make sense to us

An audacious swoop for Ivan Toney maybe? The money from the Wilson sale would allow it with the way FFP works, but it's highly unlikely.

We really don't see anyone forking out £20million for Wilson in January, though unless they are really desperate for a new striker, you know ... like we are.

This transfer window has been one big mind eff. We wouldn't be surprised if someone sets up a support group when it closes.
