Things look to be starting off well in the transfer market for Newcastle United this summer with positive news coming through on three possible incomings.
However, it can't all go our way and it now seems that Newcastle may miss out on signing Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise to a Premier League rival.
It's believed that Olise is a boyhood Manchester United fan - I mean, why wouldn't he be, he was born in Hammersmith, London after all - and should the Red Devils move to activate his £60million release clause, that's where he's likely to want to go, according to Football Transfers.
Newcastle have a passive interest in Olise, but nothing concrete has come to the surface regarding making a move for the 22-year-old winger.
Despite being born in England Olise has represented France at youth level and has been dubbed by Sky Sports as 'one of the best young players in the Premier League'.
Had Dougie Freedman accepted Newcastle's job offer, we could have maybe seen a world where Newcastle would make an approach for Olise and we may well have stood a chance of landing him too.
However, if he's going to be presented with the option of joining his boyhood club, it's hard to compete with that, no matter how much of a shambles that club may be.
Olise's midfield partner Eberechi Eze is another one that Newcastle have had an eye on and is also tipped to leave Crystal Palace this summer.
We doubt that the Magpies will make a move for either, in truth, although we'd happily take them, either one or both just to be greedy.
Especially if it meant that Manchester United didn't get either of them.
