It looks as though Newcastle United could be set to miss out on a huge summer signing if recent reports are to be believed.
Eddie Howe simply has to add to the Newcastle United attack this summer. As we've stated many times before, it would be unacceptable to go into next season with just two centre-forwards after the nightmare that was this season.
With Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson missing so many games between them, there were too many instances when Eddie Howe had to deploy Anthony Gordon as a makeshift striker.
While Newcastle are working on finding a new forward, it looks as though one of Howe's top targets could be about to join another Premier League side.
Newcastle have a long-standing interest in Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko and missed out on signing the 20-year-old last summer as he switched RB Salzburg for RB Leipzig, and now look set to miss out on him again.
The Mirror are reporting that Arsenal looks to be the most likely destination for the £45million-rated striker who Breaking The Lines describe has having an 'elite range of motion' along with 'rapid speed'. Manchester United and Chelsea are also keen on the striker, but it's believed a move to the Emirates would be Sesko's first choice.
While missing out on Sesko would be a huge blow to Newcastle, it could also be a blessing in disguise.
Should The Gunners get their man, it should all but end their interest in our very own Alexander Isak.
While we never actually believed that Isak would leave us for the London side, the relentless, daily links are getting tiresome and it would be nice to see them die down should Arsenal sign an alternative.
Still, it would have been nice to have Sesko at the Toon. The striker who turns 21 on Friday looks to have huge potential and could have been an outstanding partner for Isak.
