Newcastle United have their eyes set on bringing in more attacking options this summer after a season which has seen the Magpies field a team with no striker one too many times.

As things stand Newcastle only have Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson as recognised strikers and neither can really say they've boasted a stellar injury record since they've joined the club.

This season the pair have taken it in turns to be injured, but at times there has been overlap where neither striker has been available and Eddie Howe has had to move winger Anthony Gordon into the middle.

Therefore it makes sense that Newcastle will look to bring in a new striker this summer, potentially two as Callum Wilson has been tipped to leave after this season.

Evanilson - The latest Brazilian on Newcastle's radar

Newcastle and Arsenal had scouts watching Evanilson against Estoril

Work has already begun on finding the next forward with scouts recently despatched to Portugal to cast their eye over 22-year-old Porto forward Evanilson.

The Brazilian has caught the eye of a few Premier League clubs according to O Jogo (h/t Sport Witness).

Manchester United and Arsenal have both been credited with an interest in Evanilson with the latter also sending scouts along with Newcastle to watch him in action against Estoril.

Newcastle likely can't afford to go big with any transfers this summer

Manchester United have already tried to sign Evanilson once with a €65million (£55million) bid rejected by Porto in 2022. The Portuguese side moved quickly to hand the star a new contract which contains a €100million (£86million) release clause.

We can't see either Arsenal or Newcastle going as high as £86million on a young, non-Premier League-proven striker this summer, but if there is a deal to be done with Porto then we might see a move made.

Newcastle will have to be very clever with their summer transfer budget with so many positions in need of strengthening. It might have to be a case of quantity over quality for this window just to flesh out the squad.
