Newcastle United have a long-standing interest in Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot and now Juventus have announced it's time to part ways, Newcastle could be tempted to move in.

A report form Calciomercato in Italy have claimed that talks between Rabiot and Juventus broke down months ago and as a result, both parties have agreed to part ways at the end of this season.

Newcastle and Manchester United will both now reportedly be on high alert after holding a long-term interest in the 29-year-old according to Football Italia.

Last summer Rabiot almost left the Bianconeri as his contract ran down at the Italian side and Newcastle were poised to pounce with an offer, but at the last minute the French international who had just played in the World Cup final, opted to stay put and signed a one-year extension.

Rabiot has had a few injuries this season

There will be no extension this year, however, so clubs will be free to approach the midfielder with offers.

Rabiot has covered a few positions for Juventus this season in his 25 Serie A appearances, including left midfield and defensive midfield. He has contributed four goals and three assists along the way.

He has had a few injury problems this term, but nothing as disastrous as what Newcastle have had to deal with, he's only missed five league games in total over three separate injuries.

We're not totally sold on the Rabiot idea

Rabiot's experience could be a superb addition to Newcastle's ranks, especially as a free transfer.

However, there are question marks over his attitude with him having a bit of a reputation of being difficult to work with.

Eddie Howe likes his players to be fully committed and give everything for the team and we're not sure that Rabiot fits that bill. We'll have to see if we make our move this summer.
