Newcastle United have reportedly approached Real Sociedad with a €30million bid for their 27-year-old Spanish international defender Robin Le Normand.

According to reports coming out of Spain, Newcastle are bidding €30million ahead of Atletico Madrid who have gone in at €20million.

The centre-back is highly regarded by Sociedad and has played in 23 La Liga games this season even contributing two goals along the way.

Newcastle are in desperate need for central defenders this summer, even more so now that Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman are out until the New Year.

Le Normand has been capped nine times by Spain

If Newcastle are successful in landing Le Normand it's actually devastating that we'd have to wait until next year before we saw Botman and Robin on the pitch together, I mean, the headlines write themselves.

As far as we're concerned, we're not even interested in whether or not he's actually any good, we just want to have the Dynamic Duo in our back-line.

However, the fact that he's been capped nine times by Spain is a good indication that he's also a decent player, thankfully.

It looks like Eddie Howe is making moves early

At just €30million (£26million) he could be a bit of a bargain too with Newcastle having to really box clever in the transfer market to bring in the players they need and remain under budget.

We're expecting Eddie Howe to want at least two new centre-backs before next season gets underway, so it's good that we're starting to get our bids in early so hopefully things move quickly in the summer and Howe can start to get the players bedded in before the season kicks off.

Can anyone else not get the old Batman theme tune out of their head now?
