Newcastle United are on the hunt for bargains this summer as the Profit and Sustainability stranglehold shows no signs of easing.

Today's report that the 'luxury tax' option for PSR is seen as a non-starter will come as a huge blow to Eddie Howe who'd have been hoping to finally flex Newcastle's financial muscle, but instead, the directive continues to be - find quality and find it cheap.

Several rumours have popped up this week linking Newcastle to players nearing the end of their contract which is the ideal way to pick up quality players for a smaller fee - although they often make outrageous wage demands to compensate.

A report in iNews has now claimed that Newcastle have their eye on Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo who is out of contract this summer.

Newcastle want 26-year-old Tosin Adarabioyo

Despite having surgery this season he looks strong as an ox

The report suggests that Tosin Adarabioyo has caught the eye of Eddie Howe with the 26-year-old's contract situation one that makes a move all the more likely.

Adarabioyo has made 18 appearances in the Premier League for Fulham at centre-back this season after missing a chunk of the early part of the season after undergoing groin surgery.

Since the end of November, however, he's missed only three games with only one of those down to an injury. He's completed 90 minutes in every game he's started in since his return after his surgery, so it doesn't look like his injury record should be anything to worry about - until our lot get hold of him.

Adarabioyo is a graduate of the Manchester City academy

Adarabioyo graduated the Manchester City academy but never made a first-team appearance for the Cityzens, but was loaned out to West Brom and Blackburn before Fulham picked him up in 2020 after former Magpie Scott Parker got them back to the Premier League.

Marco Silva hailed Adarabioyo as a 'special' player in an interview with beIN Sports saying he's a leader in the dressing room.

“He is a key player for us. He is one of the leaders in our dressing room and we need these guys to step in in the right moments and he did it.

“We missed him a lot, we missed him because he didn’t play the first three months of the season. Tosin is a special player for us, I can’t hide that situation.

“The way he can defend the box but also on the ball he is a special player for me, the way I want to play, the way he can build (from the back).

It might not be a name that will get Geordies too excited, but given our current predicament with central defenders, bringing a Premier League-proven centre-back in on a free can't really be a bad thing.
