Given Newcastle United's injury woes this season it seems a bit odd that the Magpies would be eyeing a player who has played just eight times this season, but here we are.

Eddie Howe will be looking to add some firepower to his side this summer with his first-team squad boasting just two recognised strikers. There have been several games this season where neither striker was available leading to Howe having to field the likes of Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy as centre-forwards.

Newcastle, therefore need to bring in a third striker to help with the squad rotation to ensure Howe can keep at least one striker fit at all times, however, it's believed that Callum Wilson could depart this summer which would leave Newcastle with the monumental task of filling two striker spots.

HITC is now reporting that Newcastle are amongst a host of Premier League sides with an eye on Roma and England striker Tammy Abraham.

Abraham has made just eight appearances this season

Abraham has just returned to action in April after spending the majority of the season on the sidelines following an ACL injury, something Newcastle know far too much about now.

The England forward hasn't completed a full 90 minutes yet, in fact his longest spell this season was 62 minutes in the Europa League semi-final against AC Milan. He has managed to find the net though, in the 2-2 draw with Napoli in Serie A.

It's understood that Abraham would be interested in a move back to England this summer with Newcastle, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and newly promoted Leicester keen on the former Chelsea man.

It's a huge maybe from us - price is a big issue

Tammy Abraham made his way into the England set-up back in 2017 and has 11 caps along with three goals but his last appearance in an England shirt was back in 2022 in the Nations League.

If Abraham would be available for a decent price then Newcastle should definitely give him a look, but after an ACL injury this season and only bagging nine goals in 54 appearances the season before that, we wouldn't want to spend too much on him.

The 26-year-old has the talent, no doubt, but we think it would take a while before we got the best out of him.
