Newcastle United have been given a huge boost in the race to secure the signature of Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo after talks with Manchester United came to a halt.

It was reported by multiple sources that Tosin was keen on the move to Tyneside after positive talks were held with the club.

In the last week, Man United were reportedly interested in signing the 26-year-old on a free this summer. However, due to uncertainty of who will be in charge at Old Trafford next season talks have broken down much to the delight of Newcastle fans.

Man United yet to make a decision on a new manager

According to HITC, Man United are set to make a firm decision in the coming weeks over the future of current head coach Erik Ten Hag.

The Red Devils' new technical director Jason Wilcox was fronting talks with Tosin in an attempt to get him to move to Manchester but was unable to give any guarantees on his role within the team.

Newcastle are clear favourites to land Tosin this summer the defender has been told the plan of action should he join. The thought is that he would be part of the starting lineup next season.

Tosin and Lloyd Kelly are a priority for Newcastle

The Magpies are also pursuing Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly who like Tosin, is out of contract this summer.

The 25-year-old is reportedly keen on the move to Tyneside, but according to the Daily Mail's Craig Hope, the deal is being held up due to agent fees.

It shouldn't be a major issue however and Newcastle will be confident they can get their man on a free to add more depth to an injury-troubled back line.
