German outlet Bild are reporting that Newcastle United are keeping an eye on Borussia Dortmund's teenage sensation Jamie Bynoe-Gittens who plays left wing.

The report, which comes via Sports Witness, suggests that Arsenal are the leaders for the youngster's signature who, despite having just signed a new contract with Dortmund, could be tempted to return to England having left Manchester City in 2020.

Following in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, Bynoe-Gittens left the UK to join up with the Borussia Dortmund academy where he has now pushed his way into the first-team.

So far this season the winger has made five appearances for Dortmund. Three in the Bundesliga and two Champions League appearances, with potentially his next European outing coming against Newcastle later this month.

Having just broken into the first team and subsequently signing a new contract until 2028, it's not going to be easy to prise Bynoe-Gittens away from the German side, but Mikel Arteta's Arsenal see him as the next big thing and will likely test their resolve.

Newcastle meanwhile, may not be as forthcoming with their interest given the embarrassment of riches Eddie Howe currently has when it comes to left-sided forwards.

With the form that Anthony Gordon has been in this season, a young up-and-coming left winger would struggle to get into the side ahead of him, unless Gordon's serving one of the many suspensions he's likely to have if he doesn't calm himself down.

Chelsea are also mentioned as having an interest in Bynoe-Gittens but given that he's a professional footballer with a functioning heart, that's hardly a surprise.

I don't think this is one that Newcastle will actively pursue, especially in light of his new contract, but it'll be interesting to see what happens in the future.
