Newcastle United need to sign a striker this summer and they could be ready to go back in for the rapid striker they missed out on last year.
This season Newcastle's lack of depth in the centre-forward position has been exposed numerous times with just Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak as recognised strikers in the squad, both of whom have had their fair share of injury problems.
Therefore it's imperative that another striker is brought in this summer, but it's also believed that Callum Wilson could be sold in the next transfer window which means the Magpies may have to box clever to bring in two forwards.
HITC reports that Newcastle may be set to revisit their interest in young striker Benjamin Sesko after they missed out on the Slovenian in the summer as he switched RB Salzburg for RB Leipzig.
20-year-old Sesko has adapted well to life in the Bundesliga scoring seven goals in 11 starts, but is being outshined by another new signing in the form of Lois Openda and is now reportedly considering his options.
The 6'4" striker, known for his lightning-quick pace has a £45million release clause in his current deal which Newcastle and Arsenal could activate at the end of the season.
HITC claims that Newcastle will be watching the 'incredible' Sesko during the international break with the striker likely to be in action for Slovenia in their friendlies against Malta and Portugal. In fact, Slovenia played Malta last night, playing out a 2-2 draw with Sesko getting on the scoresheet in the 81st minute to tie the game.
However, it was only last month that Sesko publicly stated his desire to stay at RB Leipzig, telling Sport Bild that the club suits him.
“I want to spend a lot of time here because the club suits me well. We’ll see how many years it will be in total.”
Hopefully, he can be convinced to make a move to the Premier League and play for Newcastle, although he would still likely have to play second fiddle to Alexander Isak ... if we manage to keep hold of him in the summer. Arsenal are said to be very keen on the Sweden international and that could kick-off a striker merry-go-round that also involves Sesko.
