The Newcastle United injury curse continues to ravage the squad and has now spread to our players out on loan.
Harrison Ashby signed for Newcastle in January last year and while he is yet to make his senior debut for the Magpies, he put in some very impressive performances in pre-season before being loaned to Championship side Swansea City.
The 22-year-old has looked decent for the Swans and even opened his goal-scoring account for the Welsh side back in August. However, his last appearance was against Hull City last month where he had to withdraw after just 10 minutes with a hamstring injury.
That injury has now been deemed so bad that he has returned to his parent club according to The Shields Gazette.
Newcastle just lost Nick Pope on Saturday, who is potentially out for the season. That takes the 'death toll' to 13 including Sandro Tonali's suspension, 14 if you now count Harrison Ashby, who could still return to Swansea after Newcastle investigates the extent of his injury.
Swansea boss Michael Duff hasn't ruled out a return for the right-back.
"He's had a scan. I don't know 100 percent the diagnosis on it, but the two clubs are now talking. He's gone back to Newcastle for the time being.
"He's their player, so they want to investigate a bit more into what it actually is. Ultimately, from my point of view, he's not available for the next two or three weeks. Until they do this investigation we're not quite sure where it's at."
Ashby was signed from West Ham for around £3million and was highly rated by Hammers fans, therefore, it was expected he'd be the long-term replacement for Kieran Trippier until Tino Livramento arrived in the summer for £32million from Southampton.
Newcastle look pretty set for full-backs in the future with those two and Lewis Hall coming through.
