Manchester City have lost a huge player in Rodri with the Spaniard having been ruled out for the season. This has stirred up talk of Pep Guardiola looking to replace him with Newcastle United's Bruno Guimaraes.

It seems like a long-term solution to a short-term problem and one that's very unlikely to happen even at the briefest of glances, but it's a story that journalists will keep returning to on quiet days, we're sure.

Thankfully, Brazilian outlet Trivela has got out ahead of the nonsense and produced a comprehensive article stating why they feel Bruno will remain at Newcastle.

While a lot of it is common sense mixed with opinion, there is a quote from someone close to Bruno Guimaraes which reinforces the newly-crowned captain's desire to stay at Newcastle.

A source close to Bruno Guimaraes has confirmed his desire to stay at Newcastle

Bruno's commitment has never wavered despite many reports suggesting that so-called 'bigger clubs' are looking to take him away from Newcastle, but the Brazilian's repeated insistence that he's more than happy at Newcastle gets thrown aside in favour of a nice click-baity story.

However, a source close to Bruno told Trivelo that the ultimate decision on Bruno's future lies with Newcastle United.

"He has a lot of respect from his teammates and becoming captain was his dream. There are many clubs interested, but a deal can only be done if they settle with Newcastle first. Bruno isn't going to position himself (for a departure). It has to come from the club wanting to sell."

Bruno Guimaraes is going nowhere

Newcastle certainly aren't going to be looking for a buyer for one of their biggest stars. Even the threat of a PSR breach won't push them to looking to offload Bruno Guimaraes.

As much as we've never suspected that Bruno was anything other than 100% committed to Newcastle, a periodical update that it still remains the case is never a bad thing.

After being offered a new contract and being handed the captain's armband, short of erecting a statue of him outside the front doors, there's not much else Newcastle can really do to show just how revered Bruno is at the club, and shy of tattooing the club crest on his chest, there's little else Bruno himself can do to make it any clearer that he's happy here.
