Eddie Howe has turned to more youth to bolster his squad as the transfer deadline closes in with nothing to show for the Newcastle boss.
There are just a few days left for clubs to do any transfer business and time is running out for Eddie Howe to bring in any new faces.
Howe looked and sounded frustrated at Friday's press conference as the club continues to battle with the annoying restrictions imposed by the current Financial Fair Play/Profit and Sustainability rules.
Now, with numbers low in midfield, especially with Bruno Guimaraes being one booking away from a two-match ban, Howe has turned to 21-year-old Joe White.
The Chronicle reports that White has been handed the number 40 shirt number and will now likely find himself on the bench for the rest of the season much like Lewis Miley and Elliot Anderson before him.
It's a huge opportunity for White who was signed from Carlisle in 2016 as a youth prospect. After several loan spells, Eddie Howe has opted to give him a shot in the first team.
"Joe will stay with us until the end of the season. It's where we are light on bodies so this is a real opportunity to come in and show that he is at the level.
"He has certainly improved and the loan thing has been a beneficial thing for him. This could be a great opportunity."
Both Miley and Anderson took their similar chances well and now find themselves part of the first-team set up, and Joe White will be looking to do the same, no doubt.
We love seeing a player come through the ranks and make an impact on the first-team, so we've got our fingers crossed that White is the next in line to catch the eye.
