The Newcastle United narrative is changing after months of speculation surrounding Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes moving on to so-called "bigger clubs".
Newcastle fans have endured months of speculation around the future of our two biggest stars with some reports verging on the believable and others leaning towards the ridiculous.
However, with Alexander Isak in line for a new deal at Newcastle and Bruno Guimaraes' £100million release clause having expired, the media seems to have backed off slightly, albeit not entirely.
Now, though, it seems they have a new favourite story to play with and that's the future of Newcastle's Player of the Year, Anthony Gordon.
There was a point when Newcastle considered selling Anthony Gordon to Liverpool as a last-ditch desperate act to ensure compliance with PSR. It was a moment that appears to have emboldened Liverpool who are now contemplating a return with a more substantial bid.
But now Football Insider are claiming that Manchester United are also thinking about a move for the 'lethal' winger after his extremely impressive season on Tyneside.
With Pep Guardiola still a tad unsure on the future of Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish having fallen down the pecking order, they claim that Pep could look at Gordon as a replacement.
We can't knock Football Insider's logic, but we don't believe any of it, it just seems like a story they've made up based on that logic rather than it being anything based in reality.
Still, it's one that could potentially grow into an actual story, albeit one we're not too worried about.
We're not going to lie and say we're 100% confident that Gordon won't end up at Liverpool this summer, but we feel that that's where he'd go where he to leave, otherwise, he'd be happy to remain at St James' Park. That's our gut feeling on the matter, anyway.
