Bruno Guimarães has agreed a new contract at Newcastle United that will keep him at the club until June 2028, according to Fabrizio Romano on X:

The new deal will apparently contain a release clause "in the region of £100 million" for the Brazilian international midfielder, who was signed for around £37 million from Olympique Lyonnais in January 2022.

Guimarães' representatives have been in discussions with the hierarchy at St. James' Park for quite some time now, so it's great to hear that improved terms have finally been agreed.

The midfielder follows striker Callum Wilson in putting pen to paper on a new contract, with the number nine committing to an extra year at Newcastle just last week.

Howe was jokingly asked by Luke Edwards of The Telegraph in yesterday's pre-Sheffield United press conference whether any other new contracts were set to be signed. The head coach gave a typically coy answer, though, saying he wasn't aware of anything in the works.

An extension for Fabian Schär, who has been simply superb since the takeover, appears to be next on the agenda for Dan Ashworth and Co., with the Swiss international's current deal running out at the end of this season.

What a few weeks it's been for Bruno, with the announcement of his second child, a couple of starts for Brazil in the international break, a Champions League debut for Newcastle, and a new contract at St. James' Park.

Here's hoping he can carry his performance at the San Siro and all of this positivity into the rest of the campaign!
