We've already had official confirmation that Paul Dummett will leave Newcastle United this summer, but we expect he won't be the only one to be let go when their contract expires.
Paul Dummett has been a fantastic servant to the club so seeing him leave will be a bittersweet moment as he's a Newcastle man through and through, but he's no longer at the level we need to move forward.
Meanwhile, it's now being reported by Football Insider that German goalkeeper and man with the most beautiful flowing blonde locks in the game, Loris Karius will not be offered a new deal at the club.
The 30-year-old came into the club as an emergency signing in September 2022 after Karl Darlow suffered an injury that was going to keep him sidelined for a lengthy spell. With Martin Dubravka on loan at Manchester United, Newcastle were without back-up for Nick Pope so moved to bring in the former Liverpool keeper who was without a club after leaving the Reds under a cloud following his Champions League final performance.
Karius was originally given a contract until January 2023, but after impressing in training that deal was extended to the summer despite the cancellation of Martin Dubravka's loan.
It turned out to be a good move by Howe as Nick Pope got himself sent off against Liverpool in the last Premier League game before the Carabao Cup final meaning he was suspended for the Wembley trip, and with Martin Dubravka cup-tied, it was down to Karius to fill in.
That was the first of two appearances for Newcastle with the second coming almost exactly a year later when he faced Arsenal in that horrific 4-1 annihilation last month after Dubravka picked up an illness.
It has always been touch-and-go as to whether Karius would stay at Newcastle given that his partner, Diletta Leotta is a sports presenter based out of Italy.
Therefore it's probably more like a mutual agreement rather than the club telling him he's not getting a new contract, but we definitely won't be expecting to see Karius' name on the roster next season.
